MULTIPLAYER SOCIAL DEDUCTION GAME FIRST CLASS TROUBLE HEADS TO EARLY ACCESS IN 2021 AND CHRISTMAS THEMED PLAYTEST OUT NOW
Independent developer Invisible Walls ApS in partnership with indie publisher Versus Evil are excited to announce that their multiplayer social deduction game First Class Trouble will be coming to Steam Early Access in Q1 2021. Winner of an Epic Games MegaGrant, developer Invisible Walls ApS is utilizing the Unreal Engine to bring the world of First Class Trouble to life.
First Class Trouble is a multiplayer social deduction game where six players must work together to shut down C.A.I.N., the rogue A.I. of a failing luxury space cruise-liner that is trying to kill them. Two of the six players are chosen at random to secretly play as Personoids, killer humanoids sent by C.A.I.N. to betray the other players. The human residents win by successfully eliminating all the Personoids, and reaching and shutting down C.A.I.N. Personoids win by killing all the humans before they reach C.A.I.N. or by reaching C.A.I.N. with the humans and foiling the shut down.
Unique to First Class Trouble, is that the game will utilize proximity-based voice chat to elevate the social dynamics of actual conversations. Meaning friends will need to split off from the group to scheme and plot, and that you can’t hear a victim’s cry for help if they’re too far from you. Friends will also need to collaborate with each other on different co-operative tasks to proceed through the maps and eliminate one another. The varied map environments allow for hilarious moments: players will be dumping each other out of airlocks, electrocuting each other in spa pools, locking each other into freezers, and tossing bottles of alcohol at each other’s heads.
The teams are running a free holiday playtest starting December 15th and ending December 31st. New to the playtest are Christmas decorations and cosmetics. Players can join the Playtest via the Steam page here.
“The year 2020 has sucked on many levels. For Versus Evil, partnering with Invisible Walls is one of the best things to happen all year,” said Steve Escalante, General Manager of Versus Evil. “First Class Trouble is our new entry in the wildly popular social deduction genre, with the likes of Among Us and Town of Salem.
Multiplayer games have always brought the “best AI” by adding human interaction. With social deduction games you get to learn how cunning, funny, manipulative, and dramatic people can be. In this COVID world, they’ve been a great escape to a fun, social space where you can hang out with people and have a game night like no other. A quick thank you to the Danish Film Institute who initially funded some of the development to the tune of $370,000. First Class Trouble is a great example of how development teams, publishers and government funds truly help drive creativity with investment in an ever growing, globally flourishing industry.
Further details to bring to consoles will be announced by Versus Evil and Invisible Walls ApS next year.
