Kids missing out preschool lessons while staying at home? Try Hatch Kids instead.
With many in lockdown, Finnish children’s edutainment service Hatch Kids brings their safe mobile app with no ads nor in-app purchases to the UK and Ireland.
The COVID-19 pandemic is causing major changes in our daily lives and making parents and children stay together in lockdown in many countries. Finland is known for its early education system that inspires playful learning. After a successful launch and excellent reviews from families in the Nordics, the mobile gaming service Hatch Kids is available in the UK and Ireland from April 20th, 2020 onwards.
Hatch Kids is a safe and fun gaming app for 2-8-year-olds without ads or in-app purchases. It is designed by parents together with children, and its game curation process followsthe world-renowned Finnish early childhood education plan.Hatch Kids can be downloaded from Google Play store on Android devices, with the iOS version coming later this year, and can be used with a subscription at £6,99/month or £59,99/year.
The service features carefully curated games for toddlers that help develop motor skills and cognitive abilities, such as Sago Babies and My Hungry Caterpillar Shapes and Colors. For preschoolers, there are games such as Toca Lab: Elements, Fox Factory, and Pepi Wonder World that boost imagination and teach skills such as chemistry and programming to the young players.
Rather than worrying too much about the length of kids’ screen time, it is better to focus on the screen time qualityinstead. It is also fair to say that in times like these, parents need all the help they can get while balancing childcare and working from home. Letting the small ones play professionally selected games is one solution.
“Many parents have preconceived notions about games, and often they concentrate on the possible negative side rather than realize the positive impact games can have on children. Games naturally develop logical thinking and motor skills, but quality children’s games have been designed to also improve emotional intelligence, communication, creative problem solving, and many other critical life skills. We are working to educate parents on the benefits of gamified learning together with our partner UNESCO.” says Åsa Forsell, Hatch Kids product lead.
Hatch Kids content catalogue is top notch with more than 90 world-class titles from the best studios in place, such as Toca Boca, Sago Mini, Dr. Panda, Studio Pango, Pepi, and Rovio Entertainment, to name a few.
