CATAN – Console Edition is coming February 28th to PlayStation and Xbox
Board game enthusiasts can look forward to the release of CATAN – Console Edition on Tuesday, February 28th on both PlayStation and Xbox. Pre-orders are open from February 3rd, providing early access starting February 23rd for those who purchase in advance.
Dovetail Games recently released a behind-the-scenes video showcasing the game’s vibrant and lifelike board and its faithful recreation of the beloved classic board game. We aimed to recreate the classic CATAN experience that fans know and love while keeping the authenticity of the board game intact for our digital version. Both newcomers and experienced players alike can look forward to an engaging gaming experience, whether playing on the couch or online.
When Dovetail Games published Nomad Games’ CATAN – Console Edition last year, important features that accentuated authentic gameplay and strategy included dynamic single-player AI and the ability to track resources on your smartphone.In CATAN’s unique visual style, players will also enjoy other features such as single-player, couch multiplayer, and online multiplayer. Additionally, there are dynamic AI characters who each have their own gameplay strategies; some are more inclined to trade, some less so, and some take a more proactive approach – just like with the physical board game!
With the console edition of CATAN, you can do 4-player multiplayer with just one console! There’s also a resource tracking feature that uses your smartphone without requiring any app. Having fun with family and friends was a big part of designing this game. Additionally, this version supports cross-play in online multiplayer, so fans of CATAN playing on either PlayStation or Xbox platforms can come together. No matter the rule set, gamers are sure to feel fully immersed as they take on roles of explorers in the island of CATAN. This wondrous land is populated with hexes that contain various resources–brick, lumber, grain, ore, and wool—and full of sheep. In addition to these assets, ships can be found sailing in the Harbours while plumes of smoke fill the air above Cities. The menacing Robber is also around waiting to steal resources. Gamers can get a close up view of all these features as well as opt for a bird’s eye view of the board. CATAN veterans as well as newcomers can soon outsmart opponents in a fresh, exciting way with this new strategy game.
On February 28th, Nomad Games and Dovetail Games will release CATAN – Console Edition for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One consoles. This title is now available for wishlisting in the PlayStation® and Microsoft stores with pre-orders going live on February 3rd. Both the Standard edition and Deluxe edition come with five previous CATAN World Championship board layouts from the real-life competition!
If you pre-order the standard version of the game, it will be available to you on February 23rd, and you’ll get a Dice Skin & Hex Frame as well as a 10% discount. For those who purchase the Deluxe Edition, they’ll be able to access it early.
