Overpass – The Review
Since the announcement of the game Overpass coming out on PS4, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, our team was super excited to show you some gameplay.
Overpass offers to play with two types of vehicles. The buggy is powerful but undergoes much inertia, while the quad is more maneuverable but vulnerable to falls. In both cases, localized damage management sanctions overly brutal approaches. Their handling is learned in career mode which includes a tutorial, where a voice with a pronounced Texan accent teaches us the basics of piloting.
The best way to understand the different forms of grip on the ground and the physics of vehicles. The game is focused on the elevation and obstacles, the slightest error is punished by a reversal or penalties. Despite this, the game does not always allow us to understand why the vehicle cannot climb a particular slope or why it gets stuck in the background. The frustration is all the greater as the replacements often require backing up to gain the momentum.
Career mode is made up of a tree structure on which you choose your progression. The selection of a challenge launches a mini-competition comprising one to three races with classification. A career requires completing 12 rounds before hoping to access the World Series, provided you have maintained your position in the top 8.
